While teaching 4Kers, I always notice their little bodies never stop moving, even while they are at work. With the chairs I have in my classroom currently, they struggle to find a comfortable position, while still staying on task. When I allow my students the choice of seat, I see more motivation and focus, rather than being reminded how to sit in their chair throughout the activity. I have started to experiment with flexible seating recently, but due to the lack of resources, this process has been slow and smaller than I would like. I have brought in some new forms of seating, allowing my littles to have more freedom within the classroom, and they have embraced these changes and used them to help them be successful. Using these seats, my students will have more flexibility to be comfortable and self-motivated during work time. They can have a choice in their learning environment and make positive choices that positively impact their learning.
