I strive to create a classroom environment where all students feel safe and welcome. As adults, we use certain strategies to regulate heightened emotions or stress. Children deserve to have a space where they can do this as well. Many students enter the classroom facing challenges, such as adverse childhood experiences or trauma, which affect their ability to learn. Self-regulation is a crucial skill students need in order to learn. A Calming Corner will give my students a designated space in the classroom to practice self-regulation and mindfulness. I need your help to create this safe space for my students!
