My kindergartners are eager, curious and active students. They are in a bilingual Spanish/English dual-immersion program that is K-5th grade. Half of the students are native Spanish-speakers and the other half are English-speakers. Together the students become bilingual and literate in both languages by the end of 5th grade. At our school, 75% of the students are from low-income families who struggle with finances. Many families do not have the economic resources to have collections of books at home.
