Young students learn best through play and hands-on opportunities. These materials will be used at school but ideas for sensory play will be sent home. Letters, shapes, and numbers can be hidden in the sand for students to identify or match. Students could also identify the letter sound and a word that starts with that letter. Students can count, compare, more or less, and estimate while scooping and pouring, as well as building fine motor skills. To maintain students’ interest the sensory table can be changed to various sensory materials.
