When students see that a teacher can have a tarantula as a classroom pet, they can be comfortable with what they like and love. Being able to embrace their differences in middle school so they have more confidence when they are older. In my Botany class, it helps show the life cycle and gives emphasis on lessons dealing with organisms. Seeing how such a frightening organism can bring so much value, students will start to appreciate nature more. Being able to consider all the life they have. As well, in STEM the tarantula can be used with some of the inventions being made, like bridges, towers, and even tools.
