These new library books will expand the students minds with new ideas. Cultural and racially diverse stories will help students become more accepting of those that are different from them. This will encourage new friendships at school and at home. Reading these books as a class will open up conversations about diversity and equity in school and in life. My students are always excited to hear new stories in the library. Often times while reading to the students out loud we will discover similarities to characters in the stories, which leads to deeper conversations.
