In my classroom, I strive to nurture a love for reading. 5th graders are continuing to explore and get excited about different genres of books. I want them to be inspired by the classroom library and feel like there are books on the shelves just for them. Reading is an integral part of my classroom routine. I read to my students each day and then they read independently. That being said, we read a lot of books. The more opportunity for choice, the better. A wider variety of books will enable students to pick something that is both interesting and grade level appropriate. The books I have selected include a wide variety of genres and levels in order to meet the needs of a diverse 5th grade class.
