This is my second year teaching and last year I knew that I wanted to introduce reading books into my curriculum. I have chosen "Threads of Life" for my Fashion Design students because it is beautifully written and gives them some different historical stories about textiles. I believe that this will be engaging for my 8th graders that have found a love for sewing with me last year. I wanted to introduce "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" to my Personal Development class to help jumpstart them on becoming more engaged in their academic and personal lives. In many of my classes, I saw a complete lack of motivation in a large number of students. I want to counteract that. I try to encourage my students to get up in front of the class to present different assignments and understandably they are nervous. Hopefully, the lectern can be something that they can hide behind to build their confidence.
