These books will inspire a love for literacy and reading by introducing my ELL students to new stories with different cultures, diverse and relatable characters, and backgrounds that look familiar to them. These books will make great lesson hooks for introducing new skills in reading--teaching themes like acceptance and family, teaching summarizing skills, teaching point of view and opinion, as well as introducing new vocabulary (both multicultural and academic). If you can instill a love of reading and find books that engage the students, the students will find a love for learning!
