My students have reading disabilities and struggle with comprehension, but love to be read to and participate in discussion. I have requested a class set of the book, Save Me a Seat, because it will open the door to discussion of being misunderstood, bullying, and fitting in. I hope reading the book, Save Me A Seat, will help instill empathy/understanding of others in my students. My students have limited social skills and life experiences. This book will help them see that cultural backgrounds, prior experiences, and prior knowledge, as well as, character traits all shape their points of view.
