Time management and communication are key skills in my class. Students are able to work more consistently and experience less stress if they can see how much time they have left to work, hence the timers. The kits will be used as an introduction activity to Industrialization and Western Expansion. Students will explore and discuss how the telegraph and other similar items were conceived, created, and necessary to creating a stable infrastructure. They will also make connections to the Civil War and how having better communication was an advantage for the North/Union forces. One of the overarching concepts for my class is communication and how having reliable and clear communication is necessary to the development of a society.
