As stated earlier, many of our students worry about where their next meal at home will come from. If they know they have the ability to take food home with them, they will not worry throughout the day and be able to fully focus on their academics. Many food-insecure children have greater difficulty acquiring social and academic skills often resulting in retention and conflict with other students. If students come to school well-rested on a full belly, they will be more alert and ready to take on the challenges of the day. We would like our students to be able to take extra food home, such as oatmeal, soups, and peanut butter, with them on the weekends and for long breaks. This will hopefully allow them to rest up and enjoy their time off.
