Feeling engaged and part of a classroom community is a huge motivator to a child’s willingness to learn. When reading materials reflect a student and student’s culture, it helps to give them a sense of belonging. Throughout this year, I have opened my eyes to the lack of diversity in children’s literature and I wish to change that in my classroom so my students will get the chance to see main characters they identify with in their books. I hope to be able to share these books with families too!

About my class
