Currently, our school library is comprised of outdated, irrelevant books that hardly fill one book case. The majority of the books were published prior to the early 2000s and feature white characters. In a school that serves almost all students of color, this is unacceptable. Research shows that the best way to improve a student's reading ability is to get them to read, we NEED to provide our scholars books that actually make them excited about reading - not dread it. That being said, refreshing our library is a necessity that will ensure out scholars get the opportunity to grow into successful readers and writers that will one day be leaders of our society!

About my class
