As a first-year teacher, I do not have a lot of books for my students to read in our classroom. When students have the opportunity, they love free-reading time and would actually prefer to read books from our book nook over working on their Chromebooks doing any kind of reading. By providing a variety of books for my students with different interests and different reading levels, my higher students can be more challenged and my struggling readers can have access to books that they can read independently. These books can play a crucial role in my students' academic reading growth as we can utilize and incorporate them during free reading time, during small group work, and during our intervention block.

About my class
