Tumbling is a foundational skill in cheerleading and is a category for scoring in local as well as state cheerleading competitions. Majority of collegiate cheer teams require a standing back handspring at minimum to make their squad. Out of our 32 current athletes, only 6 have a standing back handspring. Our goal is to increase that number of athletes to not only see success for our program, but for each individual with a dream of cheering at the collegiate level. With the purchase of tumbling equipment, our athletes can safely and confidently learn the basic tumbling skills they need to be successful both as a high school athlete and in preparation for collegiate cheer. The cheese wedge mat would help us the ability to teach back walkovers, the beginning skill leading towards a back handspring. From there, the air track mat allows our athletes to safely practice back handsprings and even standing tucks both with and without a spotter. With the balance boards, our athletes can increase their core strength which ultimately assists in ALL aspects of cheerleading. We are looking to build a reputable cheerleading program for our athletes and require basic tumbling equipment in order to do so. Our athletes work hard with what they have, therefor our coaching staff is looking to provide the tools they need to continue to push themselves and succeed!
