I am a first year teacher inheriting a classroom that does not have much left behind from the previous teacher. What has been left is out dated and won't be helpful to my students. I am trying to create a welcoming environment that will have open concept lab seating and make the students excited to learn. I believe that when students feel comfortable in their learning environment, it makes them feel more at home and apt to learn. My goal is to inspire students and get them interested in STEM. For example, there are no posters or other biology posters or materials in the classroom which is why some are on my list. There is also not a computer station for the students, which I would like to add with a desk and chairs. I also need basic supplies like scissors, and filing systems to add to the organization of the classroom. I believe the more welcoming the classroom is, the happier the students will be to be learning there. I hope that these supplies will help me create an inclusive, modernized learning environment that will help my students succeed.
