I work at a Public Charter School which is a culturally diverse Title I school. Our school practices an inclusion model, where students that receive special education services are in class with general education students. We also service many students that are English Language Learners. Sadly, there are not many teachers who are trained to teach English Language Learners. We go to professional developments, but only one is certified. My masters program will have me teaching at my school, under a mentor teacher, and taking classes so that I will be certified to teach English Language Learners with a culturally relevant curriculum. I then can also create me own professional developments and teach my fellow educators. It's the gift that keeps giving.
