This project is intended to broaden students' understanding about the world beyond their backyard. Since travel has slowed down in the past year and a half, and because the expense of travel prevents many of us from seeing as many places as we'd wish to see, students should be exposed to learning opportunities that allow them to travel in other ways. According to personal experiences, travel can change a person's unique point of view and perspective. Books will be used as the windows which students will peer through and technology as the vessel that will take them to learn about the world and its communities. Students will be invited to read about the places that they want to learn about and travel without having to leave the classroom (physically). This project is intended to transform a traditional method of country research methodology, where students learn about and recite surface-levels of understanding about a country and its people. Reading a tapestry of rich, well vetted stories, students can dig beneath the surface-level in order to avoid misconceptions and overgeneralizations in order to learn about different locations around the world.
