LEGO bricks help students in many ways. They help strengthen fine motor skills, and visually the ability to create. I intend to use LEGO bricks with class literature and STEM. As an example, we will read The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and students will plan and create a bridge using LEGO bricks. We will compare models and test the durability of their construction. Similarly, we will use literacy opportunities with Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs. The STEM piece provided by LEGO bricks makes the learning experience hands-on for each student. It also gives students the opportunity to problem solve and evaluate, and it brings the literature to life when given the opportunity for a hands-on experience.
