Learning in a world that makes sense. My at-risk preschool class is comprised of 3-5 year olds with various developmental delay and impairments as well as autism. Sometimes the stress of a day requires a safe haven for little ones to regroup. I would like to create a soft neutral space (tent & various textured/happy plush) with different sensory input materials to help the kiddos achieve a stress free mind set while having the opportunity to manipulate educational toys in order to address the various developmental areas. Many of the sensory toys being requested require fine motor manipulation (busy board & nesting puzzles), gross motor activity (yoga ball & rocking horse), calming sensory stimulants, and rote concept practice as well as STEM exposure and challenges (shape stacker, ocean cubes, tactile puzzles). I have created a list of materials for potential donors to view addressing my classroom goal in developing a calming corner in order to meet sensory needs for the students while still actively learning. Any donation would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
