Autonomy - most humans crave it. We tend to feel more comfortable when we have some control over a situation. In a typical classroom setting, there is not much choice when it comes to seating. I have experimented with flexible seating for certain learning goals and have had much success. Happier students (choice) typically equates to focused, engaged learners. I am hoping to add to my flexible seating options with these two beanbag chairs. Traveling from class to class, sitting in the same rigid desks can be uncomfortable for many (believe me, I hear the complaints). These chairs will give my students some choice, which in turn will create a more positive learning environment.
