Next year, I plan to use a reading program called "Rooted in Reading". Rooted in Reading is based on a READ ALOUD where the teacher is reading to the students. The teacher models fluency, expression, thinking out loud, and understanding a text. This ensures that the students take all of those best practices and put them into place when they are reading independently. I will focus on one read aloud each week so that students can deepen their understanding, focus on the structure of the story, and use the different reading strategies and skills that we match with the story. Currently, I only have a few of the books needed. So, this project includes all of the read aloud books I would need to use the Rooted in Reading program .
