I've asked for some new and exciting learning supplies that will keep us learning hands-on. I know it will be different as we return to school in person and I will have to limit the manipulatives we use. My students benefit from hands-on learning so I have chosen some materials that I can easily sanitize frequently. Last year we really worked hard to keep scholars learning and engaged at home. For many scholars, the consistent ability to use technology-based resources just didn't happen as successfully as I wanted. This left me with 2 options: be ok with the low numbers of scholars using ed tech; or give my scholars physical manipulatives and books that they could use at home. I chose the latter and offered many levels of books and classroom manipulates for parents to pick up and use at home. This unfortunately left me with many personal items not returned at the end of the year. I know it was for the greater good, however, I need to make sure this year's class, as they will be in person, have the resources and manipulatives I usually have available. Since my school is implementing a new phonics program, I thought adding some new phonics supplements would be helpful during small group or centers based work. Finally, the gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers will allow me to acquire a variety of teacher-created material that will help me in differentiating assignments or additional help resources I can send home that meets the needs of those scholars that need the extra support.
