These flexible seating opportunities will support my sixth-grader's social and emotional growth while fostering a sense of community. In 6th grade, it is critical that our students are continually given choice. Furniture and classroom seating is one way I could be able to do this! I want my students to have a safe space. A place where they can take risks and be provided with the freedom to explore in multiple areas in my classroom is one of my goals. As a first-year ELA and literacy teacher, I plan to use these flexible seating opportunities to improve student attention, foster friendships, and relationships, and increase engagement. You will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
