We are trying to modernize our high school curriculum with fresh book titles written by people of all ethnicities/races, but we have almost $0 in our budget to buy any new books. We currently only have books mostly written by dead white men, and we'd like to change that! Multicultural literature serves as a powerful tool in enabling students to understand better both their own culture(s) and the cultures of others. I hope one day every single one of my students feels seen, heard, respected, and valued in my classroom. Representation in our reading materials is just one step on that path, but it's an important one. Thank you!
