Classroom carpets and flexible seating are essential in creating an atmosphere and environment that is bright, cheerful, and inviting. This is where my students will gather every morning to begin our day and throughout the day for our whole group lessons. As my first grade students move from center to center they will be able to use the flexible seating to listen to a story and then apply their weekly comprehension skills using their journals. When my students reach the library center they will stretch out, relax and enjoy a book for the sheer pleasure of reading.
