Although a majority of our classwork will be a lot of hands-on learning, pencil to paper, and group work, having technology for some activities would help my students to succeed. We currently don’t have any student devices in our classroom. The technology will be used in multiple ways. One way is during math stations. While some groups are working around the room in challenging math games and activities, one station will be sharpening their skills with an online math program. The iPad math program will allow students to work at their own level and move at their own pace. Also, we will be doing a few projects this year. While books are a wonderful resource that students will use during their research, it is difficult for me to know exactly which books to stock up on because students will be able to choose their own topics. With children friendly websites that provide virtual libraries, students will be able significantly to add to their research. We will also be using a few kid friendly apps for the students to create their own projects that will foster their creativity and growth. Receiving two iPads for our classroom is a step in the right direction to becoming a classroom that fosters creativity and critical thinking through the use of technology.
