The use of Teachers Pay Teachers will allow access to create visual schedules to help students communicate more effectively. Visual schedules are used mainly with students that have autism. A visual schedule communicates the sequence of upcoming activities or events through the use of objects, photographs, icons, or words. I will set up visual schedules in my classroom to support my students with ASD. In a structured teaching environment and outside the classroom a visual schedule will help the student become more independent. A visual schedule can help reduce the anxiety that one may have while teaching a sense of flexibility. Once we have the visual schedules printed we then will laminate and add velcro to the back. That will let the student know that the schedule will change from day to day. With the visual schedule, the expectations are clear to the student. I want to ensure that my scholars have the best opportunity to gain independence.
