As a first year teacher, I have very little supplies for my students and for myself. This project was made to meet my goal to create a classroom where all students can feel included and supported. This is met though the use of flexible seating and books that promote diversity. Flexible seating will be used through out the day for students who need to move and to promote healthy living while learning. The books that promote diversity will be used both for independent reading and whole class reading and writing projects where we will talk about and learn how we can best create communities of inclusion in our lives. I also hope to provide opportunities for students to connect their creative minds with academics through the use of art materials. Many of the paint supplies will be used to add illustrations to writing pieces as well as exploring how math and art can connect!
