Giving my students the opportunity to work with various math manipulatives will enable me to build on what they know about numbers and build a better understanding of their value versus just a number. During the students' small group time, they will be engaged in conversations involving their thinking of numbers, plus hear their peers' views as well. The math calendar will be utilized during whole group instruction to engage all the learners. This will allow conversations and build math relationships among the students. Eventually, the students will be leading the conversation.
