Having a listening center with a CD player and headphones along with enriching children's literature and CDs will be an engaging learning center. This listening center will provide hands-on activities for students during classroom small-group instruction. This center will help to reinforce and extend the concepts and skills introduced in the classroom. Students can reinforce their reading and comprehension skills with this activity. Students can create story maps by identifying story elements, practice their writing skills by retelling the stories, and asking and answering questions about the stories (think pair share partner work). The possibilities are endless! These activities will also help students to work independently and to get along with others.
