STEM investigations are an engaging way to introduce students to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The investigations consist of solving a problem, such as building a tool that will harvest pumpkins efficiently or a vehicle that is powered by wind. Students work collaboratively to brainstorm, sketch a design blueprint, and then build a model. They use supplies such as LEGO bricks, K'NEX blocks, Magformers, and other items to build a model of their design. We are in need of these fun and engaging materials for our hands-on learning. We are also in need of engaging books and stories about inspirational people, such as William Kamkwamba, Temple Grandin, and George W. Ferris who have solved real-world problems and are role models for students!
