I am a passionate first year teacher that wants to make a classroom a warm welcoming environment while also providing materials that will help each student grow. I want to have flexible seating options in my classroom for reading time where students can feel comfortable enough to enjoy a book. I also want to use other objects for reading. For example, flashlights on Fridays would also encourage young readers to read a book and get excited about reading on Fridays. Additionally, I have selected items that would help first graders specifically with phonics and phonemic awareness at a young age. It is important to implement phonic learning skills early on so students read whole words and sentences easily. We have a lot to learn in first grade and it is my job to make it fun and interactive! I am an excited and passionate first year teacher and I want my students to become lifelong learners!
