In my role as an instructional coach, I would like to use this book for the year long Professional Development sessions in the format of a book club. This book is a great resource with information on how one’s culture programs the brain to process data and affects learning relationships. The book will help assist us learn the ten "key moves" to build students’ learner operating systems and prepare them to become independent learners. The book provides a bold, brain based teaching approach to culturally responsive instruction which is a critical component of education in today's diverse classrooms. It will also help build teacher capacity to design lessons and prompts for action and valuable self reflection activities for students.
