Using a soft start, with morning tubs, to begin each school day, invites students to have time to “wake up” their brains. A soft start allows time for students to build relationships, work on learning goals, and use their creative minds for open-ended thinking. A soft start is a positive way for students to be invited into learning, instead of feeling forced to learn. The demands of learning can be a struggle for little minds, but a soft start exercises minds to prepare for the social, mental, and emotional demands that need to be met during the school day.
