Having more hands-on learning opportunities is important for students who live in a rural community where classroom funds are limited. I plan to use the human skeleton to teach students in my anatomy and physiology classes the bones, how they function, where muscles are attached for movement, and the locations of other parts of the body. By having better classroom teaching tools, such as a skeleton model, students will have a greater understanding of the human body, may pursue careers in the medical field, and may one day come back to serve our small rural communities. Workers in the medical field are extremely important in a rural community where small hospitals help serve people who can't drive to larger cities and the average age of the population is increasing.
