These materials will help us create a STEAM lab for our kindergarten students to use regularly. STEAM activities encourage our students to use multiple skills that are not always used in the day to day activities of our classrooms. These activities will encourage independent and collaborative problem solving. The materials requested for this project make learning for our students hands on. Many kindergarten students struggle to comprehend abstract ideas and these materials turn abstract ideas into concrete hands-on learning. Problem solving and critical thinking skills are so valuable for students today. Using our STEAM lab consistently will help our students gain and enforce both of these skills. It will allow them to work collaboratively to reach a goal. It will force them to use grit and persistence when their project does not work the first time. It will allow them to think outside of the box and also encourage them to help their peers when they are successful and see others struggling. So many valuable skills will come from these simple materials in our STEAM lab.
