My students will feel comfortable and will actually want to come to school! Being in a Title I school where the community is often under-resourced, it is very easy for my students to get distracted, not come to school due to work, or to fall asleep in class since they feel like school is just another place for them to be yelled at and bored. I am encouraging my students to stay in school by providing a space where they can be themselves. Where they can come to be creative, think critically, but most importantly, come to learn and be inspired. Students would benefit from the resources I need because it would help them back into a routine. This will be my first year teaching back in person in the classroom and I want my students to have an organization in the classroom. For example, knowing where to get their makeup work, pick up supplies, etc. My lessons revolve around discussing areas of the globe and people in history. I want my classroom to be a learning and inspiring environment for my students. As a first-generation, Latina student, I am excited to welcome more historians that look like me into the world!
