The prepared environment in the Montessori classroom provides students with liberty, order and discipline to navigate independently in the classroom, as well as collaborate and develop their leadership skills within mixed-aged groups. The environment fosters independence. It is vital that the students are resourced with the appropriate tools to support their independence. Items requested for this project will practically support the students with tools to organize and complete their daily tasks. Flexible seating provides choice, comfort and stimulates learning and creativity. My hope is to to have several options for flexible seating, to enhance my student's learning experiences and diverse work styles. Students need diversity in writing mediums as well. Journals, white boards, and foldable desks encourage writing and creativity by providing different formats to express themselves.
