Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them. The physical environment not only influences how children feel about school but also affects their learning. Research has found that alternating the room where a person studies improves retention. The futon, table, and chairs allow for a space where students can collaboratively work together in partners or in small groups. Our day is filled with small group instruction, independent work, partner work, and group work. By offering choice in the work space, participation and engagement increase. It's much healthier for humans to work, function, and operate in environments that are lit by LED lighting. By adding the string lights to the classroom, it will allow for less fluorescent lighting. Research shows that students have significantly better health, school attendance, and achievement when in classrooms with lighting that most mimics natural lighting. I need your help in providing flexible seating which will establish opportunities for invigorating conversations and collaboration among my students.
