The Life Skills program in my school district has the purpose of helping my students build skills independently. My students are very involved and eager to be able to learn more skills. I have multiple students who enjoy learning to do laundry and folding laundry and will be even more excited about being able to learn more about housekeeping when it comes to ironing. The futon will allow for a place to provide social skill instruction as well as allow my students the chance to practice making a bed. This simple task is also an essential one that wants to ensure my students can do so independently. Providing my students with the tools to be independent is my greatest motivator as an educator. I want to ensure that they can complete daily tasks and have a sense of accomplishment that they are able to do so.
