We are a magnet middle school with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We're located in the inner city, so many of our students come from subsidized housing. 70% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Our students come from all over the county, and represent all races and ethnicities. Since many of our students are low-income, they get the majority of their reading materials and technology exposure from the school and public libraries. We have an interesting and challenging set of programs for our students, including classes focused on space exploration, robotics, video game design and marine science. Our students get the opportunity to enjoy many unique learning experiences, including trips to NASA and to local waterways.
