For years I have spent hours at the copy machine copying morning work worksheets for independent practice. Students would "lose" them or not finish them and I knew they didn't particularly enjoy doing morning work, but everyday there was a new one for them to complete. Not any more! This year I am introducing morning tubs! We will begin each day with a slow start using problem solving skills, fine motor skills, social skills and more. Students will have the choice of a morning tub each morning to work with. They will range from building materials, coloring pages, puzzles, games and so much more. I have seen this used first hand in other classrooms and students enjoy them so much! It's amazing to see how creative they can be without any guidance. Morning tubs have also helped with tardies and attendance in classes too. I am also asking for new books to add to our classroom library. I will be teaching a younger grade than I have in the past and need to add some lower level books to our library for students to read independently and successfully.
