This project will allow all of my students (rather than small groups rotated over several weeks) to learn basic piano keyboard skills, which in turn can be combined with online free keyboard sources like Chrome Music Lab. Our school is a high poverty school, so opportunities are limited for students to learn instruments like keyboards without having one per student as a class set. Combining this with Chrome Music Lab for those students who can access it at home for free will broaden and enhance their music literacy by giving equity in the classroom so all students can have the same amount of keyboard time throughout the year. We can then reinforce the digital literacy lessons we started this year through other technology (Quaver, Chrome Music Lab) and create stronger connections in music literacy and composition to meet our district and state standards.
