All my students have big emotions sometimes but these materials will help build a calm, relaxing, and safe place in my classroom for my students to go when they are overwhelmed or need to calm down. The students will have assess to this area at all times during the day.
I will be able to use these materials to help my students learn to calm down on their own and self regulate.
Since I teach prekindergarten we have a naptime and the weighted blankets will help a couple of my restless sleepers that crave pressure during naptime. My students love to explore all things sensory with all senses. The sensory bottles will be used as calm down bottles. The light projector will be used to set the tone of the space for relaxation. The sensory game will be used to make a sensory walk the children can explore with there feet. The adhesive duplo boards will be used on the wall to create a a new place to build on the wall. The inflatable pea pods will be another way my students that crave pressure can get it in the calming corner.
