Students will get a homey feeling when stepping into their ELA classroom. When reading independently or in small group, they will be able to find a comfortable area to learn with or alongside their peers. Students will benefit more from the material they are reading if they are comfortable and relaxed. The rug will act as a gathering area for morning meeting. During morning meeting students share their thoughts, what makes them happy or what is bothering them. They need to feel safe and included during these times. The rug will gather everyone together.
