These materials will make a huge difference in my students learning. As a first year school counselor, it is important to provide a welcoming and safe space for my students to talk with me about the challenges and issues that they are facing. I want to create this comfortable space for them by having an inviting area to do small groups, sensory tools for anxious students, and books/ curriculum for them to learn from. During small groups, individual counseling, and classroom guidance lessons, I will focus on the topics they are struggling with. At this age level, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, coping skills, and social skills are a big part of the challenges they face. My goal for this project is to create a welcoming environment for ALL students so that I can provide the best resources to meet their specific individual needs.
