Together as a class we read the novel and discuss each chapter. We discuss character traits and behaviors, the setting of this story, metaphors, similes, personification, and idioms. This novel is a good one to discuss inventions and think of our own invention. We discuss which inventions would be important in our society and why. We will do a group project and create our own inventions to showcase for parents and the community. We will write essays connecting our culture with the dystopian culture that is represented in the book.
