Mastering letter names and sounds is an essential foundational skill for reading. Many students come to Kindergarten without knowing a single letter name! On average, a student needs at least 14 opportunities to practice something before it becomes mastered. Some students that have a more difficult time memorizing, such as students with dyslexia, may take up to 50 or more repetitions until it is fully memorized. My goal is to get students excited about learning their alphabet by providing them with multiple ways of accessing letters and sounds for repeated practice. These materials will enhance the learning environment and keep over 200 hands-on games organized and individualized to let students work at their own pace. Each letter will have five different interactive games for each student to practice throughout the week. I want students to have multiple opportunities to have repeated practice that is fun, engaging, and hands-on, all while memorizing letter names and sounds!
